The calendar read '14 June 2003'
There was so much to be done that I could see
As the sun sparkled in the sky
The YFC atmosphere just got high
The big day had arrived.
Yorkshire were the hosts of the Northern Area Field Day
Thanks to those who travelled a long way
Cumbria, Durham, Isle o' Man and Lancs.
East Riding, Northumberland and us, Yorks.
A lot of hard work went into the preparation for this day
Well done and thanks to all those who helped in some way.
9 am at Skipton Auction Mart
Members in white coats arrived and nearly ready to start
(Well, this is a Young Farmers event
Of course we had a good time, everyone went!)
ATV, landrover and tractor handling
Then off to shake your hips in the Salsa Dancing
Promote Young Farmers to the counties as a trader
Then go and bat and score a rounder
After judging and gaining a high score
Put your boots on and PULL— doing the Tug o' War!
It's an action packed day with such a lot to do
Even at night there's the YFC "Do"!
Everyone wears their rugby shirts representing their clubs
And later they'll be invading Skipton's pubs
Then off to the Northern Area YFC do
If you didn't go, the only person who missed out was U!
To boogie the night away to Roadshow AC
This is the time and place to be!
Overall points, rivals Cumbria won
But am sure, by far, Yorkshire had more fun!
'Cos we're gonna win next year
So get your club into gear!
